Off-tober
Taking some time. Like, actually though.
Summary: I am taking a full content hiatus during the month of October to focus on my mental and physical health.
Dear reader,
I have noticed a steep decline in my mental and physical well-being over the past few months. There are several inputs to this, with the obvious ones being the state of things in the world and the absurdity surrounding the upcoming election in the US. Beyond that, personal obligations and lingering issues stemming from an unfortunate event earlier this year have been weighing me down significantly.
After talking with my therapist, other creators, and those close to my heart, I've decided to step back and take a full content hiatus throughout the month of October. It dawns on me now that I've not taken a serious break in the past few years aside from whirlwind holiday trips and time for family obligations. But this time, I'll be taking a break for myself.
I do not know when my exact return date will be, though it probably lands somewhere in the space of "after the election."
It feels wrong to step away from my humble platform during such consequential times given that the majority of my content is about current events. At the same time, forcing myself to continue making content that is actively draining me is not good for anyone; especially you: the folks who I'm doing this all for in the first place.
I will not be uploading videos or streaming during my hiatus. I may continue to post on some text-based socials, primarily my Mastodon account and maybe a bit to Threads/Bluesky if you follow me in those places. Otherwise, I'll probably be popping in and out of my Discord community.
Mostly, I'll be taking time to focus on other projects, touching some grass, and re-establishing healthier patterns that have long since waned. My sincere hope is to rekindle my spark—so to speak—and return healthy and ready to settle back into my role as the True Internet Goober.
